Enter what you put in (dollars or coins), the price you bought at and the price you sold at, or today's price, to see your profit or loss, ROI and the sell price you need to break even after fees. Don't know the buy price? Look up the coin's closing price on the day you bought, or try a "what if I had bought on…" date. Prices come straight from Coinbase's public API in your browser; the numbers you type are never sent anywhere. Educational only, not financial or tax advice.
Load example uses a made-up trade: $1,000 into BTC at $40,000, sold at $60,000, 0.5% fee each way. It is not a real trade or any exchange's fee.
Enter the amount, buy price and sell price, then press Calculate.
ROI after both fees, on what you put in. 0% is the break-even sell price.
Coins: if you enter dollars invested, the buy fee comes out of that amount, so coins = dollars ÷ (buy price × (1 + buy fee)). If you enter coins, total cost = coins × buy price × (1 + buy fee).
Profit = what the sale returns after the sell fee − total cost: coins × sell price × (1 − sell fee) − cost. ROI = profit ÷ cost. The multiple is what you get back per $1 put in (1.5x = $1.50).
Break-even sell price = cost ÷ (coins × (1 − sell fee)): the price where you get back exactly what you paid, fees included. The target table uses the same formula with your ROI on top.
What-if dates use Coinbase's daily candle close for that UTC day (so the "price on a date" is the close, not the high or low). Coinbase only lists a coin from the day it started trading there, so very early dates may have no price.
Assumptions: one buy and one sell at single prices, fees as a % of each side, no slippage, network or withdrawal fees. Several buys at different prices?
